It's Monday! What Are You Reading

Apologies for not being around so much and for not travelling round everyones blogs this last week or so. I started university last week and I am just getting into a routine. I do want to keep the blog up so I will try to post as much as I can and of course visit you all.

 This is a fun book meme by Sheila of Book Journey. Each week we share what we have been reading.

This week I read quite a lot on the bus so managed to get through a few books. I read;

 Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote - fantastic collection of short stories.

A Study in Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle - the first of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries. I loved it.

 The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. I just finished this. I quite enjoyed it. Will review it later.

Just now I am reading;
 Skulduggery Pleasant: Death Bringer by Derek Landy. I'm still reading this. Haven't been reading much at home so it's taking me longer. I am enjoying it though.

 A Tiny Bit Marvellous by Dawn French. Will start this one today on the bus. This one is for my book group.

A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. Another charity shop purchase. Shockingly this will be the first time I will have read it.

What have  you been reading?

  2. I recently reread A Clockwork Orange.

    I'm going to finish Holy the Firm today and probably Emily's Quest as well. Then there are a couple of other books I have stop avoiding. The last two weeks have been slow reading for me. I'm not sure why. This is not normal for me but every now and again I do seem to sort of start lagging behind in my own momentum.

  3. I'm interested to know what you think of Secret Life of Bees. I got the impression from some reviews I read that it was a bit too sappy. Look forward to your review.

  7. All these books look great! I wonder what the Dawn French book is like. I had it in my hands at the book shop but decided against it, as I wasn't sure I'd enjoy it.

    Hope you have a great week!

  11. Thanks for all your comments everyone!

    Satia I am looking forward to A Clockwork Orange. Did you like it? Is Emily's Quest the book from the Emily of New Moon series? I really need to read those again. I think we all do have quiet weeks with reading. I've been lucky in that the books I've been reading of late are either fairly short or quick to read.

    Che, it is a little sappy but I was just in the right mood for that. The ending is what truly made it sappy though.

    Laurel, I haven't saw the film Clockwork Orange. The clips for it always creeped me out and put me off.

    Thanks gautimi, hope you get back on form soon.

    sosaysthewhale, I recommend starting with the firs one, A Study In Scarlet.

    Leeswammes, there isn't much of a story to the book but it's so funny that I can't put it down.

    Laura, I read Breakfast at Tiffany's last week and loved it.

  12. A Clockwork Orange is sort of creepy but I think the language in it is really interesting. Apparently Burgess messed with the language to get it past censors. Pretty cool, no?
