It's Monday! What Are You Reading!

It's Monday is a book meme by Sheila over at Book Journey. This 100th time Sheila has posted this meme and she's having a giveaway to celebrate. Worth going over and having a look. Plus it's always fun to see how others have planned out their reading week.

Last week I read;
A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. Have to admit that I hated this book. Will not be reading more by this author.

The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen. This was for my Books I Should Have Read By Now challenge. Am pleased to say my tbr pile is going down. I quite enjoyed this one.

Just now I am reading;
A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin. The size of the text in this one is slowing me down. I am enjoying it but the tiny text is irritating me. Mainly because book 1 didn't have text this small and neither does book 3. I would much rather there were more pages.

Next I plan to read;
The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton. This was one of my purchases this month. Sadly I couldn't get a decent image of the Everyman edition.

I am also hoping to read The Murder on the Links by Agatha Christie. Another purchase from this month. It's the second Poirot book and I'm very much looking forward to it.

What are you reading this week?

  1. Oh I do so enjoy Tess Gerritsen and have not read this one. Agatha Christie always makes for a great week. Happy reading.

  2. I enjoyed A Great and Terrible Beauty but only the "real life" part of it. I didn't at all enjoy the fantasy life.

  3. Ugh, I hate tiny print in a book too. I would much rather have an extra few hundred pages than have to get out a magnifying glass! But that's good news to have, I'll keep that in mind when I get to that book in the series :)

  6. I must read A Great and Terrible Beauty. I've heard such great things about it, but just haven't gotten to it yet. I hate it when the text size is insanely small - that's so irritating.

  7. I really like Tess Gerritsen, though the last Rizzoli/Isles one I read wasn't amazing I haven't given up on her yet.

    See what I've been reading!

  8. I keep meaning to read Murder on the Links. I managed The Affair at Styles ok but somehow never got round to reading the second book! Hope you enjoy it, I'm a new follower :-)

  9. Unfortunately, I feel the same way about Libba Bray, although I wouldn't say I hated A Great and Terrible Beauty, I really didn't like it. Then she went and won the Printz award for Going Bovine, so now I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Ack! I'll try to keep staying away.

  10. Thanks for all the comments everyone.

    Leeswammes, I disliked most of it. The characters were just spoiled brats and the fantasy side was lacking in anything exciting. Also the era felt wrong.

    Crystal, it is a little frustrating and makes you feel like your reading has slowed right down. The good news is I only ever really noticed it each time I first picked up the book. After a few pages I was soon lost in the story again.

    Ellie, I liked it too although I'm not sure how she is going to make Rizzoli into a character with her own series. Despite liking this book I'm not convinced of Rissoli. There wasn't much to her character.

    Thanks for following Sophia, I followed you too. I haven't read that many Christie either. This is the second Poirot and I'm trying to read them in order.

    Jen, yeah maybe we missed something if she won a prize. Or maybe Bray has improved with time. Unfortunately I don't think I could bring myself to give her another chance. At least not right now anyway.
