The Thousand Autumns of Jacob De Zoet by David Mitchell. An historical fiction novel. It went from being a book I was about to give up on to one of my favourites by this author. I read this as part of the Books I Should Have Read By Now Challenge.
Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. This was part of a Readalong and Books I Should Have Read By Now challenge. I can't recommend this book enough. I would say it's at the top of my favourites read this year.
I'm currently reading;
The Return Of Captain John Emmett by Elizabeth Speller. I have read a total of two pages so can't comment on it for now. A friend loaned it to me and it's been one that I've been wanting to read for a while.

Next I plan to read;
The Killing Kind by John Connolly. I have decided to have a week of just light reading. Love this series and I'm looking forward to this one.

What are you reading?
Shantaram is a book that I really should have read by now. At the moment, I'm reading a book for review (good story, bad formatting) and Hello Dubai which is interesting...in parts.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of hello Dubai. I'll look out for your review of that one. It's annoying when you are enjoying a book and the format is bad. Puts you off a little.
ReplyDeleteSome great books! Although The Summer of the Bear I didn't like too much at the end. I wasn't keen on the magical part of the book. Otherwise, it was a good read.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite funny. I liked the magical part but the thriller part very much disappointed me.
ReplyDeleteI have heard mixed things about the summer of the bear and I still need to decide if it will be worth to read...
ReplyDeletePlease come see what I have read too :)

I'm not sure I'm ready to give Mitchell another go yet!
ReplyDeleteI looked at Shantaram at the library the other week, but just don't feel up to a book of that size at the moment! Thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteWow.... you have some great looking reads here that are new to me.
ReplyDeleteGreat selection. I really enjoyed Shantaram too and thanks to your review I'm going to be seeking out David Mitchell's books too.
ReplyDeleteHere's what I'm reading: http://booksinthesun.blogspot.com/2011/07/its-monday-what-are-you-reading-17-july.html
I haven't heard of any of these, but I hope you enjoy them. I look forward to reading your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteEllie, was it Cloud Atlas you didn't like? I quite liked that one and number9dream.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your lovely comments everyone.
Have a great week and enjoy everything you read.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a really good week, congrats! I've heard mixed reviews about Shantaram, glad to hear you liked it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ryan. Hope you have a great week too.
ReplyDeleteCrystal, I'm glad to say that I have only heard positive reviews but then not very many people I know have read it. The ones that have I had no doubts they would like it.
