Monday! What Are You Reading!

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! D This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from! This is a meme from Book Journey.

Thanks to the readathon I have a fair list of what I read last week. It would have contained only one otherwise as I was reading a history book which I tend to read slower than fiction. So last week I read;

The Six Wives of Henry VIII - Antonia Fraser
I Am Number Four - Pittacus Lore
The Mysterious Affair at Styles - Agatha Christie
The Body In the Library - Agatha Christie
Shiver - Maggie Striefvater.

My favourite one was the Henry VIII book. Sometimes with non fiction I feel the need to read fiction alongside it. Not so with this one. If you want drama you should really read up on this part of history (it's better than the fictionalised versions).

This week I plan on finally reading The Passage by Justin Cronin. Gabriel from Gabriel Reads put me in mind to reading it. I bought it the week it was released and it's been collecting dust since (that should surprise no one). Not sure I will get to read much else this week as I have a lot of other things on. If I do I am torn between my book group choice Into The Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes and Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole (I am swaying more towards John Kennedy Toole).

  1. Thanks for reminding me that The Passage is still waiting on my Kindle. I bought it shortly after it was released but it got buried in other new books. My Monday Report is here. I hope you can sneak in some reading this week too.

  2. It's always nice to meet someone who is the same as me. Buys books when they are released and forgets about them when other books come along.

  4. Thank you. You can't beat the Tudors for good drama.

  5. I loved The Passage whereas I'm not normally a vampire reader. But then this isn't really about vampires anyway. Have fun!

    My reading list was also much longer this week because of the read-a-thon. :-)

  6. Lots of books read! I've got all the Agatha Christie's lined up. Er, for someday ;) How did you like her very first, The Mysterious Affair at Styles? What about I Am Number Four?

  7. I do like vampire stories but a lot of them are quite similar now. Think I am going to like this one because it sounds so different. Plus I love the story of how the author came up with the idea.

    The Mysterious Affair at Styles was very good Filled with stereotypes and cliches which I love (all part of a Christies novel). Hastings is a little irritating but I think he is meant to be. Plus I guessed it all wrong which is good.

    I Am Number Four was also good. It was a little predictable in the middle but for the most part I did like it. Great start and fantastic build up to the ending. Will definitely be reading the next one.
